1st International Music Festival of Molyvos – Lesvos

19 August 2015- 21 August 2015

A special classic music festival was born this summer in Northern Aegean at the island of Lesvos, the International Music Festival of Molyvos, which took place on the 19th, 20th and 21st of August. In its first year 21 top performers of classical music from around the world were gathered in a three-day music festival.

The greek-german pianists and multi-awarded Danae and Kiveli Doerken are the founders and artistic directors of the Festival. Their goal is to create a festival in which the timelessness of classical music would coexist with the freshness of today as well as the interpretation skills would meet the freedom of approach.

For the first year of the festival they created an exciting program on 'Metamorphoses'. For its realization many talented and already famous performers of their generation were invited.

The "Metamorphoses" as mentioned Danae and Kivelli Doerken, is not only the theme of the festival, but also its goal. This is why they have selected projects in which either the composer or the composition itself experience a sort of transformation.

In the closing concert which took place at Molyvos Castle on the 21st of August 2015, Gustav Mahler’s work Symphony No. 4 in G major (arr. Klaus Simon) was presented.

The Artbassador, provided the music material of Symphony No 4, for the needs of the Festival, on behalf of the publisher Universal Edition Ag
