A tribute to Mikis Theodorakis for his 90th Anniversary by Greek National Opera

Excerpts from his operas and symphonies

The Greek National Opera honored Mikis Theodorakis 90th birthday with a great concert that took place on the 10th October at Olympia Theater.

Soloists, the Orchestra and the Chorus of the Greek National Opera conducted by Elias Voudouris performed emblematic fragments from great symphonic and operatic works by the distinguished Greek composer, who celebrates his 90th birthday this year.

Sopranos Julia Souglakou and Tzina Poulou, mezzo-soprano Eleni Davou, tenor Yannis Christopoulos, and bass Petros Magoulas participated in a program that included excerpts from the 1st, 3rd and the 7th Symphonies, as well as from the operas Antigone, Medea, Electra, the oratorio of Canto General and the ballet Zorba the Greek.

Mikis Theodorakis himself attended the concert together with the Artistic Director of Greek National Opera Myron Michailidis.
