CINDERELLA

24 April 2015- 30 April 2015 Ballet by Johann Strauss II Choreography by Renato Zanella

The Greek National Opera Ballet presents the only ballet composed by Johann Strauss II, choreographed by Renato Zanella at the Hall Alexandra Trianti of the Athens Megaron for six performances.

It is not widely known that towards the end of his life, Johann Strauss II, the known “king of waltz” composed ballet music. Unfortunately, the composer died in 1899 before the premiere of the work in 1901. His composition was completed by Josef Bayer.

The production of Johann Strauss II CINDERELLA that the Greek National Opera presents at the Athens Megaron on 24, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30 April 2015, was first created in 1999 for the Vienna State Opera Ballet on the occasion of the 100 years from the death of the composer and the 80 years since the first production of the Vienna State Opera in 1919. The costumes and the settings of this impressive production were designed by the legend designer of French Haute Couture, Christian Lacroix.

The Orchestra of the Greek National Opera is conducted by the Maestro Elias Voudouris. The choreography is interpreted by principal dancers, soloists, coryphées and the GNO Corps de Ballet.

The Artbassador provided the Orchestra of the Greek National Opera with the music material on behalf of the publisher SCHOTT MUSIC.
