REVIEW OF MUSIC EVENTS FROM JANUARY TO MARCH 2017

Since the beginning of 2017, THE ARTBASSADOR gladly contributed with its services to important music events!

Since the beginning of the new year 2017, THE ARTBASSADOR gladly contributed with its services to several music events which were very successful and impressed the audience and the critics.

On January 4th, the musicians of Kamerata under the music direction of George Petrou welcomed the new year with the Viennese traditional way and the most beloved melodies of Johann Strauss. In the frame of New Year's Eve Festivities at Athens Concert Hall, the following works were presented among others: VALSE FROM THE OPERETTA 1001 NIGHTS OP.346, INTRODUCTION FROM OPERETTA NIGHT IN VENICE, ACCELERAZIONEN VALSE OP.234, CZARDAS FROM RITTER PAZMAN OP.441. The Artbassador, provided the music material, on behalf of the Publishing House SCHOTT MUSIC.

Ten days later, on January 14th, Kamerata appeared for the first time at the Municipal Theatre of Piraeus for a series of performances, where one of the most imaginative works of the world music theatre for children was performed, with the title THE IDEA of the British composer GUSTAV HOLST, work of 1896. The orchestra was conducted by Nikos Vassiliou and the director was Mr. Simos Papanastassopoulos. The performances were repeated on February 5,12,19,26 and March 5,12,19,26 and the last one on April 9th. The Artbassador provided the music material, on behalf of the Publishing House CHESTER MUSIC LTD / MUSIC SALES CLASSICAL.

On January 25th in Christos Lambrakis Hall at Athens Concert Hall, we enjoyed the Concert of the National Symphony Orchestra of ERT, under the music direction of Viron Fidetzis, where among others, the orchestra performed Rudi Stephan’s work, MUSIC FOR VIOLIN AND ORCHESTRA. The Artbassador, provided the music material on behalf of the Publishing House SCHOTT MUSIC.

The worldwide famous music work CARMINA BURANA of Carl Orff was presented on January 29th by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Athens conducted by Nikos Malarias, at the venue of Art and Culture ARTEMIS. The Artbassador, provided the music material on behalf of the Publishing House SCHOTT MUSIC.

In the frame of the circle of concerts which are broadcasted by the Third Program of the public Radio/TV station and the National Symphony Orchestra of ERT, realized on January 31st, a concert with works of Greek and foreign composers, at Studio C of ERT. The work RAVEN Symphonic Poem for mezzo soprano, flute, two harps and string orchestra by Mikis Theodorakis was executed. The Artbassador, provided the music material on behalf of the Publishing House SCHOTT MUSIC.

On 4 & 5 February, the music ensemble ERGON ENSEMBLE presented a special program for children and "smart" adults at the Athens Concert Hall. The work FRANKESTEIN of H.K. Gruber with lyrics by H.C. Artmann, was presented for the first time before the Greek audience. The Artbassador, provided music material on behalf of the Publishing House BOOSEY & HAWKES.

On February 10th, under the music direction of Loukas Karitinos, the work CONCERTO FOR ENGLISH HORN AND ORCHESTRA of Peteris Vasks was presented by the ATHENS STATE ORCHESTRA at the Athens Concert Hall. The Artbassador, provided the music material on behalf of the Publishing House SCHOTT MUSIC. Leoš Janáček’s work TARAS BULBA RHAPSODY FOR ORCHESTRA was also presented, the music material of which provided once again by The Artbassador on behalf of the Publishing House UNIVERSAL EDITION.

On February 14th, the National Symphony Orchestra of ERT presented arias and excerpts from famous operas, with the participation of lyric artists, at the Municipal Theatre of Piraeus under the music direction of Nikos Vassiliou. The program of the concert included the works MEIN SEHNEN, MEIN WAHNEN TANZLIED DES PIERROT from DIE TOTE STADT by Erich Korngold, WELCH, EIN GESCHIK! O QUAL SEER SEELE duet from ENTFUHRUNG AUS DEM SERAIL by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, CAN’T HELP LOVING DAT MAN OF MINE from SHOWBOAT by Jerome Kern, CHI IL BEL SOGNO La canzone di Doretta from LA RONDINE by Giacomo Puccini. The Artbassador provided the music material on behalf of the Publishing Houses SCHOTT MUSIC, EDITION ALKOR, BOOSEY & HAWKES and UNIVERSAL EDITION, respectively.

The carnival concert of the State Orchestra of Thessaloniki presented a colorful and rhythmic program on February 17th at the Ceremonies Hall of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Among others, Aaron Copland’s composition EL SALON MEXICO was executed. The Artbassador provided the music material on behalf of the Publishing House BOOSEY & HAWKES.

On February 23rd, the group Ensemble Musikfabrik was found on the Main Stage of the Onassis Cultural Center, where they revived the work of the American composer Harry Partch in a concert with THE LORD'S IS MY SHEPHERD, BY THE RIVERS OF BABYLON, EVEN WILD HORSES DANCE MUSIC FOR AN ABSENT, RING AROUND THE MOON, AND DANCE FANTASM FOR HERE AND NOW. The Artbassador provided the music materials of the works on behalf of the Publishing House SCHOTT MUSIC.

The great project of Athens State Orchestra and its director Stefanos Tsialis for the performance of all Gustav Mahler’s Symphonies, began the previous year and continued this year, too, with the SYMPHONY NO 6 IN A MINOR in a concert given by the Orchestra, on February 24th, at the Athens Concert Hall. The Artbassador, provided the music material on behalf of the Publishing House C.F. PETERS Germany.

Another concert of the National Symphony Orchestra of ERT took place on February 25th, at the Athens Concert Hall, under the music direction of Dimitris Agrafiotis. Among others, the works CARNIVAL BALLET SUITE by Mikis Theodorakis and LES CONTES D'HOFFMANN: AIR D 'OLYMPIA EN SOL MAJEUR by Jacques Offenbach, were presented. The Artbassador, provided the music material on behalf of the Publishing House SCHOTT MUSIC.

In this year's 5th OPEN DAY which was hosted by the Onassis Cultural Center and was realized on March 5th, the works STRING SONGS by Meredith Monk and COME OUT by Steve Reich were presented. The Artbassador provided the organizer of the event, with the music material of the works on behalf of the Publishing House BOOSEY & HAWKES.

The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra performed for the first time in Cyprus, the work CONCERTO FOR PIANO 1957, as well as the work OEDIPUS TYRANNOS ODE FOR STRING ORCHESTRA by Mikis Theodorakis, under the music direction of Nikos Tsouchlos and with Mrs. Elena Mouzala as piano soloist. Three concerts were realized on March 8th, in Limassol at Rialto Theatre, on March 9th, in Larnaca at the Municipal Theatre of Larnaca and on March 10th, in Nicosia at Pallas Theatre in Pafos Gate. The Artbassador provided the music material of the works, on behalf of the Publishing Houses BREITKOPF & HAERTEL and BOOSEY & HAWKES, respectively.

On March 29th again, in the frame of the circle of concerts which are broadcasted by the Third Program of the Public R/TV station ERT, the National Symphony Orchestra of ERT executed among others, the work SYMPHONY IN D MINOR by Cesar Franck at the Studio C of the Radio Megaron. The Artbassador provided the music material on behalf of the Publishing House CHESTER MUSIC LTD / MUSIC SALES CLASSICAL.

The Symphony Orchestra of Cyprus presented the work SYMPHONY NO.4 in 4 movements, for soprano and ensemble or chamber orchestra, G major by Gustav Mahler in adaptation of Klaus Simon, in two concerts which took place on March 30th, at Rialto Theatre in Limassol and on March 31st, at Pallas Theatre in Nicosia. The Artbassador provided the music material of the work, on behalf of the Publishing House UNIVERSAL EDITION AG.

The work HOME which is part of a circle of music compositions, entitled Living Spaces, composed by Manos Tsangaris, was presented at a charity event organized by Onassis Cultural Center, at the Hospice of permanently disabled, on March 30th and 31st, as well as on April 1st and 2nd. The Artbassador granted the permission for the public performance of the work and provided the music material on behalf of the Publishing House C.F. PETERS MUSIKVERLAG.

Finally, at the end of March, the emblematic work DON JUAN OP. 20 by Richard Strauss was presented by the Athens State Orchestra in a concert at the Athens Concert Hall on March 31st. The Artbassador provided the music material on behalf of the Publishing House C.F.PETERS MUSIKVERLAG.
