“BRECHT AND HIS MUSICIANS” – Athens State Orchestra at the Garden of Athens Concert Hall

23 September 2016 Garden of the Athens Concert Hall

The Athens State Orchestra presented the concert entitled "Brecht and his musicians," with Kurt Weill  and Hanns Eisler works on the 23rd of September at the Garden of the Athens Concert Hall.
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the death of Bertolt Brecht (1898-1956), the Athens State Orchestra prepared a tribute to Kurt Weill (1900-1950) and Hanns Eisler (1898-1962), the two great composers with whom the great German dramatist and director collaborated closely.

The program of the concert included the Suite from the opera "The Rise and Fall of the City Mahagonny" and the Suite from the "Threepenny Opera" by Kurt Weill.
Part of the concert’s revenue was donated to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the context of the European Heritage Days 2016 and the action "Persecutions: old and new stories" coordinated by the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

The Artbassador provided the Orchestra with the music material of Kurt Weill’s works on behalf of the publisher UNIVERSAL EDITION AG.
