FESTEN by Thomas Vinterberg

The prizewinning psychological thriller at the NATIONAL THEATRE OF NORTHERN GREECE

The National Theatre of Northern Greece presented the stage adaptation of FESTEN at the foyer of the Society of Macedonian Studies from 18 November 2016 to 5 March 2017, directed by Giannis Paraskevopoulos and translated by Aliki Danezis Knutsen and Manolis Dounias, with original music by Manos Milonakis.

A family celebration becomes the cause to disturb the impeccable harmony in the Hansen family home. Honorable person is the father, Helge, a successful businessman, who celebrates his sixtieth birthday surrounded by his family members and close friends. The well-hidden secrets of the family are revealed, but they do not actually shock anyone. The feast continues normally - the feast does not stop. The well-tuned bourgeois mechanism resists.

The «theatrical celebration» FESTEN, apart from Thessaloniki, shall be hosted in Athens, at the National Theatre Hall from 6 to 9 July, upon invitation of the Artistic Director of the Athens and Epidaurus Festival, Mr. Vangelis Theodoropoulos. The performances will be continued in Thessaloniki, in the forthcoming season 2017 – 2018.

FESTEN was also presented in Athens, directed by Michalis Panadis from the actors’ group BAUMSTRASSE in 2016.
