THE UNEXPECTED GUEST by Agatha Christie

An elegant, classic mystery!

Created in 1957, "The Unexpected Guest" is widely regarded as one of Agatha Christie’s finest mystery works. The play opened at the Duchess Theatre in August 1958, enjoying an enormous critical and financial success. It ran for a total of 612 performances, breaking all previous theatre box office records and became widely produced over the last 40 years.

"The impact is tremendous... Just when the murder seems solved... Miss Christie pulls her almighty knock out punch. I admit her complete victory."

                                    London Evening Standard

Lost in dense fog in South Wales, Michael Starkwedder seeks refuge in a nearby, isolated house, where he discovers a woman, Laura Warwick, with a smoking gun, standing over the dead body of her wheelchair-bound husband. Although she admits to the murder, her confession is anything but convincing and the unexpected guest offers to help her concoct a cover story. But is it possible that Laura did not commit the murder after all? And if so, who is she shielding? The house seems full of possible suspects and a tangled web of lies reveals family secrets and chilling motives. The confession was just the beginning…
