"END OF THE RAINBOW" The Judy Garland drama / musical

The Judy Garland drama / musical "END OF THE RAINBOW" will open on November 26th at the Teatro Eliseo in ROME.

In 2005, Peter Quilter had an international hit with “End of the Rainbow”, a musical drama about the final months in the life of Judy Garland.
It premiered at the Sydney Opera House in Australia (winning Caroline O'Connor two Best Actress awards) and also had an award-winning run at the 2006 Edinburgh Festival.  
The show has since enjoyed runs in the Czech Republic, Finland, Poland and New Zealand.  A new UK production opened in February 2010 at the Royal Theatre in Northampton, The show transferred to London's West End on November 16, playing at the Trafalgar Studios.  It received great critical acclaim and was featured on the front cover of The Times newspaper.  “The show received nominations for 4 Laurence Olivier Awards including Best New Play.  A new Spanish production opened at the Teatro Marqina in Madrid in January 2011, and a German production opened at the Hamburger Kammerspiele in June 2011.  In November 2011 a new Brazilian production of the show opened in Rio de Janeiro. In January 2012, the show had its USA debut in Minneapolis, prior to a run on Broadway at the Belasco Theatre, on March 19th. The production opened to excellent reviews, ran for 176 performances and received three Tony Award nominations. It is at present in production worldwide. It opens in Rome in November 2013, followed by productions in Vienna, Antwerp, Stockholm, Chicago, Buenos Aires.

Rome is the 14th major city to present the show following hit productions in Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Rio de Janeiro, Lisbon, Copenhagen, Warsaw, Prague, Helsinki, Berlin, Amsterdam, London and New York.

The 800 seat Teatro Eliseo is one of Rome's largest and most popular drama theatres.  The production (which will tour throughout Italy) will star the award winning actress Monica Guerritore.
