EUROPEAN MUSIC DAY

21 June 2017 Α cooperation of the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra with the Macedonian University at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall

The European Music Day was first celebrated in France on June 21st 1982, as an initiative of the French Minister of Culture, Jack Lang who was supported by the French Ministry of Culture.

Since 1985, more and more European countries are participating in this festival, where amateur and professional musicians organize music concerts of all kinds. Twenty two European countries participate in this year's festival and the number is expected to grow within the next years!!!!

In the frame of this year’s European Music Day, the Organization of the Thessaloniki Concert Hall with the THESSALONIKI STATE ORCHESTRA in cooperation with THE MUSIC ENSEMBLES OF THE MACEDONIAN UNIVERSITY MUSIC SCIENCE AND ART DEPARTMENT offered to the Greek audience very interesting music performances!

Among others the works DER APOTHEKER Overture by Joseph Haydn and VIOLIN CONCERTO NO 5 IN A MINOR OP 37 by Henri Vieuxtemps were also performed.

The Artbassador provided the Orchestras with the music material by Joseph Haydn, on behalf of the Publishing House Universal Edition AG and the music material by Henri Vieuxtemps, on behalf of the Publishing house Boosey & Hawkes.
