"FESTEN" - The famous psychological thriller by Thomas Vinterberg, which gained the worldwide attention back in 1997, is presented at BAUMSTRASSE

FESTEN by Thomas Vinterberg, the awarded movie, which gained the worldwide attention back in 1997, has been dramatized for the theater by David Eldridge and is performed at Baumstrasse Theater / Athens for the Greek audience from Monday 18 January 2016. The famous psychological thriller is translated and directed by Michalis Panadis.

Helge is the wealthy and respected patriarch of a large Danish family. On the occasion of the party he organized for his 60th birthday, family and friends are gathered at the isolated country house he owns. Only Linda, Helge’s older daughter, who recently committed suicide, is missing. At the dinner table, Cristian, Helge’s older son, turn his toast into a speech that reveals shocking family secrets….

Guests’ initial denial of what they’ve just heard, is followed by their faded respect to Helge’s personality, then turns into violence, and finally to an unexpected catharsis. This explosive psychological thriller on domestic sexual abuse has been Thomas Vinteberg’s manifest of “Dogma 95” and thus, its stage adaptation consists an extremely interesting choice for such an experimental theater as Baumstrasse.

The Artbassador has granted the license for the stage production of the play to “Baumstrasse” Theater on behalf of Nordiska - International Performing Rights Agency.
