MACHINAL by Sophie Treadwell

At Neos Kosmos Theatre, since 18 April!

The dramatic life of a woman, who dared to dream of freedom, mercy and love in an increasingly mechanised society. A society which works like a machine crushing every deviation, every impulse and finally leads the dreamers to abominable acts.

Based on a real life case, which shocked the American society in the early 20th century, Sophie Treadwell’s intense masterpiece "Machinal" is considered one of the high-points of Expressionist theatre on the American stage. It premiered in Broadway (1928), thrilling audiences and in 1993 was revived in a landmark production at the UK’s National Theatre.
