A very particular relationship between a mother and a daughter!

"Tocar Mare", the award-winning play by the Catalan playwright Marta Barceló, premiered in May 2019, at the Thiseio Theater/Athens, in translation by Maria  Chatziemmanouil and direction by George Souleiman.  Following its enormous success, the powerful play continues for a second run at the New Theater Katerina Vasilakou/Athens, starting 1 October 2019.

A brilliant production by People Entertainment  Group,  with Eleni Kastani and  Evgenia Samara in the starring roles which promises the audience an unforgettable theatrical experience.

With an unconventional look at family relationships, Marta Barceló’s play explores the way in which bonds are created between people. What if we could choose freely our parents and children? What characterises a family relationship and what is expected of certain parenting roles?  Is it possible for two total strangers, Esperança, a happy and spirited woman nearing retirement  and young Empar, to create a Mother-daughter relationship by signing a contract and find  deep family happiness?  All the questions will be answered in this extraordinary, moving story.

In 2016 Tocar Mare won the 6th Catalan Dramaturgy Tournament in the Temporada Alta festival, and the 5th Buenos Aires Dramaturgy Tournament in 2017.
