DRAMA

The French Agency DRAMA has been representing authors and works from all over the world since 1986. The company was founded by Suzanne Sarquier, who is the managing director of the agency. She establishes direct links with authors, theaters and literary agencies abroad. Suzanne studied in the heart of the Sorbonne and obtained a Literature Degree. After working at the literary agency Martonplay-Marta Andras for almost 10 years and the talent agency Arte, she decided to create the literary Agency DRAMA. Supported by local producers, theater directors and talent agents, the company became one of France’s leading play agencies and extended its area of expertise to searching for new writers, both in France and abroad, developing the French theater abroad.

The company’s large catalogue includes French-language plays by established authors or who will soon be and many foreign-language plays, recent or less recent English or American successes, European texts, adaptations for the theater of films famous, internationally famous French, English or American musicals. In partnership with foreign agencies, the company represents in France the catalog of theatrical works by Ingmar Bergman, Agatha Christie, Noel Coward and Arnold Wesker.

Important French-speaking playwrights have figured prominently in the company’s repertoire, including Sébastien Blanc, Jean Pierre Bacri, Daniel Colas, Léonore Confino, Copi, Matthieu Delaporte, A. de La Patellière, Agnès Jaoui, Gérard Lauzier, Alexis Michalik, Tristian Petitgirard, Nicolas Poiret, Jean Robert-Charrier, Fabrice Roger-Lagan, Gérald Sibleyras, Benoit Solès, Amanda Sthers, Francis Veber, Florian Zeller, to name but a few. The company represents these and numerous other well known authors internationally, whose works have been performed many times abroad with enormous success.

Greece is one of the countries which has embraced many of their plays, which are continuously performed enjoying a widely increasing response. “Le Dîner des Cons” by Francis Veber, has been presented for five years in Athens,  the Molière nominated play ‘’Un certain Charles Spencer Chaplin’’ by Daniel Colas thrilled the Athenian audience as well as the Molière nominated hilarious  comedy “Silence on Tourne” by Patrick Haudecoeur & Gerald Sibleyras which became a smash hit! Τhe exceptionally amusing play “Le Mensonge” and  the Molière awarded “Le Père”, by the multi awarded young French playwright Florian Zeller have also been staged in Athens and were enthusiastically embraced by the Greek audience.
