The Athens State Orchestra at the Gent Festival – Flandre

The Athens State Orchestra was invited to participate for the first time at the prestigious Gent Festival - Flandre. The theme of their concert which took place on the 28th of September was “Greek Roots”.


The Orchestra performed works of Greek Composers such as “6 scenes from ALEXIS ZORBAS BALLET SUITE” of Mikis Theodorakis arranged by Dimitris Michas and “5 Greek Dances” of Nikos Skalkottas, together with the famous work of the international repertoire “Rhapsody in Blue” of the American composer George Gershwin. The Orchestra was conducted by Stefanos Tsialis. The pianist Evgeni Bozhanov, winner of the Queen Elisabeth Music Competition, participated in the performance of “Rhapsody in Blue”.


Τhe Artbassador provided the Orchestra with the music material of the works of Mikis Theodorakis and George Gershwin on behalf of the publisher SCHOTT MUSIC and the music material of the work of Nikos Skalkottas on behalf of the publisher UNIVERSAL EDITION AG.
