Mahler’s Symphony No. 9 by Athens State Orchestra

Under Juraj Valčuha's direction

The Athens State Orchestra inaugurates, over a period of three years, an ambitious tribute to the colossal symphonies of Gustav Mahler (1860–1911), the so-called “psychοanalyst” of music. On the 20th of November 2015, the rising Slovakian conductor Juraj Valčuha presented the Symphony No. 9 in D major, at the Athens Concert Hall. The work sometimes praises ardently Nature and Life, other times it tries to enter the mystery of Death.

The Artbassador provided the Athens State Orchestra with the musical material on behalf of the publisher Universal Edition Ag.
